Formal Dress Hire
Office Christmas party is “dress to impress”. Any suggestions for a man?

I’ve been working at this office for 3 months now and on Thursday of this week is the Christmas Party.

The problem is that I didn’t really bring anything formal with me except for shirts, shoes and trousers for work which I can’t really wear with the people who see me wearing them everyday.

The only none work clothes I have are jeans and t-shirts and hoodies! I’ve a few “going out” shirts as well and shoe wise other than Cons, work shoes and a pair of half decent brown boots. Problem being, it’s 3 weeks into pay day and after present buying I’m near enough broke and can’t afford to buy anything new.

The venue itself won’t have a dress code a hired room in a conference centre.

Do you think my dark jeans, a nice shirt and the brown boots will be acceptable? Thinking maybe try and buy a suit jacket from a second hand shop or something to mix it up a little bit?

Jeans = not a good idea. Wear the darkest pair of dress pants you have, a neutral color shirt like white or tan or gray, and dress shoes. If you can find a nice vest or tie or blazer at a second hand shop that might work too. (Nobody is going to inspect your pants and realize youre wearing the same dress pants you wear to work, but they will notice jeans and may take note of them in a negative way).
